Things You Need To Do Before 9 AM
Get Up Early
The very first thing you’ll want to consider doing to have an awesomely productive day is to get up early. Remember the saying an early bird catches the warmth? This is true and can never change.
Say A Prayer
It is necessary to connect with God. This allows you communicate with your creator thanking him for his mercies and carrying all your burdens to him. For sure he lightens our burdens and sets us free. Starting off with God feels good.
Connect With The World & Read The News
Do you feel like you aren’t as connected and up to date with what is happening around the world as you should be?
Or maybe you feel a little too connected because you’re constantly being bombarded with news notifications from social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook.
A ding here or there when you’re just checking out a specific news article that pops up on your phone can lead to googling other random things on the internet, scrolling through your feed, and a whole lot of time wasted.
If this sounds like you, I totally get it.
We live in such a technologically intertwined world that it’s hard not to constantly be connected.
It’s so important to constantly be learning about what is happening worldwide so that you’re both informed and able to keep up or start daily conversations with others around you.
But you also don’t want to be constantly distracted because it’ll stop you from being as productive as you could be during the day.
A very important way to achieve success and be as productive as possible is having the right mindset.
Making sure that you always start the day with a positive outlook is essential to have a great day and be as motivated as possible.
A great way to encourage a positive mind early on in the morning is to meditate.
Meditating is a great way to refocus, destress, clear your mind of negative thoughts, and improve your overall wellbeing.
Start the day off new by adding a little bit of mindfulness and yoga into the mix and you’ll feel more recharged and ready to take on the rest of the day.
Make Your Bed
Starting your day off by making your bed might sound silly and obvious but it’s something that can really help boost your productivity levels right at the start of the day.
Whenever I make my bed right when I get up, I get a sense that I’ve already accomplished something right off the bat and that makes me feel motivated to get the rest of my to-do list done.
Making sure my room is tidy, orderly, and organized also subconsciously gives me a feeling of calmness and less anxiety, which helps me feel ready to take on the day.
If you don’t tend to make your bed in the mornings, you might want to try starting today and see how it much more productive it makes you feel!
Add lemon, ice or cucumber — or just drink it straight up. We get dehydrated overnight (especially if nature calls and you’re using the bathroom in the pre-dawn hours), Goel says. A glass or two of H2O first thing helps replenish your body’s hydration stores. It also starts your metabolism on the right foot (since the body relies on water to keep all your digestive processes running smoothly
Sweating in the morning is really rewarding. This is because exercise releases endorphins — chemicals produced in the brain that help minimize pain and discomfort and increase wellbeing giving your brain a natural high and an energy boost.
Also endorphins can reduce stress hormones, too — helping you start your day unfettered and in control.
Eat heavy breakfast
Food is where your body gets energy — so it makes sense that starting your day with food is one of the most energizing things you can do. Our metabolism works better earlier in the day, Goel explains. That means that the body is better able to turn the calories you eat into energy that you can use in the morning, she says. (Recent research from her team backs this up, showing that eating bigger meals later in the day was linked to more weight gain and higher cholesterol — and actually harmed the way the body breaks down fat.)
Spend time with your family and friends.
Set up a run date with a friend. Take the time to eat breakfast with your family. Call someone who makes you smile while you’re getting ready or walking to the office. Being with people you like and love can serve up a big boost to our mood and energy levels, Goodwin says. (Just keep in mind that stressful interactions with family and friends do the opposite — and can curtail productivity and your mood quickly, Goodwin adds.)
Get outside in the sun
Want to make that early workout work even harder for you? Do it outside in the sun. Getting sunlight first thing in the morning tells your body clock it’s time to start the day, Goel explains.
There’s an entire field of research (chronobiology) that shows light is what triggers the body to stop producing melatonin, the hormone that tells the body to sleep, and be more alert. (And conversely, experts know that not being exposed to enough natural light throughout the day can trigger mood problems like depression.
Plan Your Day
Another thing you need to do before 9 AM to help you have a more productive day is to have a mini-planning session and get a rough overview of your day.
You want to accomplish something each day and tackle the most important outstanding tasks on your to-do list so that you’re on your way to getting closer to realizing your goals and dreams.
We all only have 24 hours a day to get stuff done so whether your goal is to graduate with a degree, learn a new skill, or starting your own side business, planning is very important to help you get there as efficiently as possible.
Knowing exactly what you have to get done each day and when you to do them will give you a solid plan to make use of your time wisely.
Seeing yourself check off your to-do list one by one will make you feel more motivated to accomplish more, and you’ll feel like you’ve spent the day being productive!DAILY SCHEDULE • AGES 9-12
